“Balsam Pillows” Sign

Folk art sign advertising “Balsam Pillows,” inspired by the small porch and counter signs once seen at general stores, hotels, and roadside stands throughout northern New England and the Adirondacks, where balsam-filled pillows were sold as popular camp souvenirs.

The panel is fashioned from an antique pine board sourced from an old crate. The sign is hand-painted in traditional milk paint and shows overall crackle and authentic distressing. Original screw holes in the corners suggest the mounting points that would have secured an early working sign.

Made in the spirit of early American sign making using traditional materials and finishes.
