Folk art game board inspired by late 19th-century Parcheesi boards. The mushroom illustrations are based on plates from Mushroom Culture by W. Robinson, published c.1870. Parcheesi was among the most popular board games in America from the Civil War era until the introduction of Monopoly in the 1920s.

The panel is fashioned from carefully selected antique joined poplar and the illustrations are hand-painted in traditional milk paint. The surface has been lightly distressed with worn edges and crackled paint to reflect the character and use of early painted game boards.

Made in the spirit of early American sign making using traditional materials and finishes.
