Begin each day with an informal bird walk to observe, discuss, and learn about the spring birds of Snow Farm. In the studio, we will begin with simple bird drawing exercises and techniques to help capture our birding moments. These drawings will become the patterns used for carving. Through further instruction, explore knife carving techniques, figurative posing, painting, distressing, and patination. Some students may have opportunities to form tinplate or leather to construct wings and tails. Students may expect to carve a bird each day. All levels welcome; no experience necessary.
