The Northern Pike - A Big One!

1,100.00

Recently we vacationed at our favorite lakeside house in Saranac, New York in the heart of the Adirondacks. My oldest daughter’s fiance has a passion for fishing. He brought his fly fishing gear and I brought an ultra light spin casting rod.

On my first trip to the dock I picked up a trio of yellow perch. They were fun to fight in on the light gear. As I lost interest over the week, Jake became more interested in casting form the dock. He managed to land a few Northern Pike.

To me this is a legendary fish. This is the fish my father talked about catching. These are the fish that took a guide to catch. Took a week long fishing trip to Minnesota to catch. And Jake was catching them off the dock with my light rod and reel.

I was immediately struck by their beauty. I knew there was a project in the works before we headed back home.

White Pine, Glass, Leather, Steel, Copper, Bamboo and Two Found Wood Balls.

37”l x 18”w x 32”t

The finish on this piece is outstanding. It is covered with a web of tiny, authentic crackle. This isn’t a Hobby Lobby crackle finish, but a finish I learned from a well established antique decoy carver in Quebec. The fish and stand have been waxed and polished to a warm glow.

I couldn’t be happier with this piece.
